This is the time of year when people begin thinking about the changes that they want to see in the new year. You may be considering some changes in your life as well. Is there something that God has been whispering to you lately, but it just seems impossible? Does it seem too big or too hard to accomplish? It could be that you tried it before and it just did not work out. God wants you to know today that He is giving you the strength to conceive.
Sarah, the wife of Abraham, was able to conceive a son in her old age. The thought of having a baby, birthing the promise, at her age, seemed impossible to Sarah. She was where you are today. Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?” Genesis 18:11-12 NIV
We get it. We know what Sarah must have been feeling. It can be very difficult when God whispers His plans and His promises to your heart, but your circumstances are quite the opposite. We are not the only ones who have experienced this. The Shunammite woman could relate too. When the woman returned, Elisha said to her as she stood in the doorway, “Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!” “No, my lord!” she cried. “O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.” 2 Kings 4:15-16 NLT She responded this way because she wanted the promise, but it just seemed impossible after all that time. It was not that these women did not have faith, they were just exhausted from the journey.
What do you desire, that God said was for you, but just feels too risky?
He’s giving you the strength to ‘conceive’ AND ‘birth’ it this time.
After everything that Sarah went through and even after she laughed, God’s promise for her life was still available. Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11 KJV Sarah found the strength to conceive because she trusted that God was faithful even when it was difficult to do so.
Only God knows all of the amazing things that He has in store for you. Only He knows what next year will look like for you. However, we trust and believe that you are on the brink of some major breakthroughs in your life. If you will trust that God is faithful, and just take the next small step, He will give you the strength to conceive.
